A22-year-old Senegalese worker died in a work-related accident that occurred inside a warehouse in Selvazzano Dentro (Padua) on Monday, the latest in a long spate of fatal workplace accidents in Italy.
The worker was assigned to cut sheet metal, and while operating a machine designed for uncoiling and subsequent shearing, he noticed a lack of lubricant.
While attempting to top up the fluid, he became trapped inside the machine's cylinder, dying instantly from his injuries.
It is the latest in the long spate of accidental workplace deaths in Italy.
In November, in a widely reported case, a 66-year-old worker died after being trapped for 11 hours under the rubble after after a section of Rome's medieval Torre dei Conti collapsed.
