March 16 (UPI) -- The Criterion Collection announced June additions to its catalog on Monday. Two John Waters films, as well as the Oscar-nominated It Was Just an Accident and more will receive Criterion Collection editions.
Waters' Hairspray and Desperate Living will be available June 23 in 4K restorations that he approved. Hairspray includes new bonus features with Waters, stars Ricki Lake and Colleen Fitzpatrick and DJ's Dave "the Spazz" Abramson, Gaylord Fields.
Desperate Living includes new features with Waters, Susan Lowe, Mary Vivian Pearce and Mink Stole.
In Hairspray, a progressive teenager (Lake) challenges a television dance show to integrate Black dancers. Hairspray inspired the Tony-award winning Broadway musical, which was adapted into a film in 2007.
Desperate Living is about murderers (Stole and Jean Hill) sentenced to the deviant town of Mortville.
