Students of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) on Friday claimed that a group of men entered a girls’ hostel and termed the incident a “security lapse”.
The incident took place around 9.30 p.m. on Thursday, they said. A purported video shows a group of men being chased out of the hostel by security guards. The Students’ Federation of India’s JMI unit condemned the incident, saying it “exposes the alarming security failure”.
“There are three security layers in front of the hostels. The men seemed to have been fighting and ended up entering through one of the gates near the main road. The security guards immediately pushed them out. All of it happened within a minute,” said a JMI official
