The National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI), Hyderabad Chapter, has written to Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy seeking urgent intervention to ensure uninterrupted supply of commercial LPG cylinders to restaurants and food establishments across the State.
In a letter dated March 12, 2026, the association said disruption and uncertainty in the supply of commercial LPG cylinders were causing growing concern within the restaurant industry, which depends heavily on LPG for daily kitchen operations.
It noted that the food and beverage industry contributes about 2.5% to GST collections.
According to the NRAI, Hyderabad and other cities in Telangana have a large number of restaurants, cafés and food establishments catering to working professionals, students, families and tourists on a daily basis. Any disruption in LPG supply could affect food availability and service across the hospitality sector. “Several restaurant operators and distributors in Telangana have indicated that supply may be restricted or delayed following recent directives, leading to operational uncertainty for food businesses,” the letter said.
The association further said the restaurant sector in Telangana supports thousands of small and medium enterprises and provides employment to a large workforce including chefs, service staff, delivery personnel and supply chain partners.
