BEIRUT/JERUSALEM: An Israeli strike hit a member of Iran-backed group Hezbollah in Lebanon’s capital, the military said on Friday.

“A short while ago, the IDF struck a Hezbollah terrorist in the area of Beirut,” the Israeli military said in a statement.

A drone also struck a residential apartment ‌in ‌Beirut’s Burj ‌Hammoud district on the northern outskirts of the Lebanese ‌capital, ‌Lebanon’s state media ‌said.

It is ‌the first time the area has been targeted.

Israel renewed its strikes on Beirut on Thursday, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warning that if the Lebanese government did not disarm Hezbollah, Israel would do the job “on the ground.”
