The construction of a sprawling ICE detention center roughly 80 miles outside of the nation's capital will be halted for now, a federal judge has ruled.
The 825,000-square-foot building near Hagerstown, Maryland, was expected to start operating in April, but U.S. District Judge Brendan Hurson slapped a 14-day hold on the project Wednesday due to concerns over potential environmental impacts the renovated industrial park will have on the area.
