Faculty members from 155 higher educational institutions across the State attended a workshop-cum-orientation programme on Monday for coordinators and co-coordinators under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) scheme organised by Tamil Nadu Agriculture University (TNAU), Coimbatore, at St. Joseph’s College in Tiruchi.

The programme by TNAU Coimbatore, which is a regional coordinating institute of the UBA, aimed to equip participants with insights and skills to implement the scheme’s initiatives effectively.

In his inaugural address, E. Somasundaram, director, Directorate of Agri Business Development, emphasised a new pathway for sustainable rural development. T. Sahayaraj, director of the SHEPHERD outreach programme, presented success stories of St. Joseph’s College UBA projects from 2017-2026, showcasing impactful initiatives implemented by students in service villages.

A field trip was organised for the participants.
