With the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research unit in Mysuru witnessing a growing influx of patients, including those from neighbouring districts, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday announced a major expansion of the cardiac care facility.

Presenting the State Budget, the Chief Minister said the hospital on KRS Road will be upgraded from its existing 400-bed to a 600-bed capacity facility at a cost of ₹180 crore. The project is expected to significantly improve specialised cardiac care in the region.

The hospital is located on the PKTB campus of the Department of Medical Education on KRS Road, where several other public healthcare institutions are also situated.

The expansion comes in response to the rising patient load at the Mysuru unit, which has been drawing patients from across the region due to the demand for advanced yet affordable heart treatment.

Once completed, the Mysuru hospital is expected to become the second-largest Jayadeva facility in the State after the Bengaluru unit, benefiting heart patients from Mysuru and surrounding districts. Before the Mysuru branch was established, patients from the region largely depended on the Jayadeva hospital in Bengaluru for treatment.
