Frito-Lay has recalled one of its popular potato chip products after discovering they could contain undeclared allergens.
According to a March 3 notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, some bags of Miss Vickie’s Spicy Dill Pickle Potato Chips could contain undeclared milk. The bags could include jalapeño chips, another Miss Vickie's potato chip flavor that does contain milk.
Anyone with an allergy to milk could be at risk for a serious allergic reaction if they consume the potato chips, according to the FDA notice. Anyone who does not have a dairy allergy is safe to consume the chips.
No allergic reactions have been reported to Frito-Lay, and no other Miss Vickie's products are being recalled, according to the notice.
"A limited number of 8 oz. bags of Miss Vickie’s Spicy Dill Pickle Potato Chips are being recalled as they could include jalapeño-flavored potato chips and therefore may contain an undeclared milk allergen. Unless a consumer has a dairy allergy or sensitivity to milk, this product is safe to consume," Frito-Lay said in a statement to USA TODAY.
