The Juvenile Court of L'Aquila on Friday ruled that three children who had been put into care because they were living off-the-grid in Abruzzo with their British and Australian parents should be split up and moved to new homes, the family's lawyer said.
The court also ruled that the mother, Australian Catherine Birmingham, should be ejected from the home in Vasto where the children are currently staying and where, up to now, she could be with them for set periods during the day.
The lawyer said decision was made on the day that the children, an eight-year-old girl and two six-year-old twins, were undergoing a court-ordered psychological assessment.
The Vasto care home reportedly requested the children be moved to other homes and the mother removed amid constant tension between her and social workers.
Birmingham and her British husband Nathan Trevallion had been rasing the kids in a house without electricity or running water in woods near the town of Palmoli.
