Four persons died in road accidents in the Capital on Holi this year, marking the lowest number of fatalities reported on the festival day since 2019, according to data from Delhi Traffic Police.As per official data, seven fatalities were reported in 2019; nine in 2020; five in 2021; 10 each in 2022 and 2023; 14 in 2024; and six in 2025.18 minor accidentsApart from fatal accidents, the city recorded 18 minor road accidents.Thirteen such accidents were reported in 2025 and 27 in 2024.“Taking cognisance of the patterns in the previous years, the department prepared a list of key spots with high occurrences of road rage, and fatal and minor accidents. Drives were conducted accordingly. There was increased deployment of officers. Checking was conducted for drunk driving,” an officer said.Additionally, teams were stationed across the city at all major intersections, arterial roads, and areas known for large Holi gatherings to monitor traffic and ensure adherence to safety norms, the officer added.
