If you missed the total lunar eclipse in the early morning hours on Tuesday, March 3, you'll have to wait at least two more years for the next one.

The "blood moon" eclipse turns the moon a reddish-orange hue. The March 3 eclipse was the second of four eclipse events expected to occur in 2026 – but the next total lunar eclipse won't arrive until December 2028. Even then, the 2028 total lunar eclipse won't likely be visible in most of the United States, bringing the next best chance for U.S. skywatchers to catch a blood moon in 2029.

Here's what to know about the next total lunar eclipse.
