March 3 (UPI) -- Chase Pistone, who competed in the early 2000s in NASCAR's Xfinity and Truck Series, has died, his family announced Tuesday. He was 42.
Pistone's family announced the death Monday, but did not disclose a cause.
"Well, my young brother and best friend is gone," Nick Pistone wrote on Facebook. "I'm broken hearted and don't know if I'll ever get over this. I miss you Chase already and I hope you are you are in a better place. I love you and I miss you so much already!"
Pistone, the grandson of two-time NASCAR Cup series race winner Tom Pistone, made four appearances in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series and six appearances in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, where he earned one Top 10 finish. He also made an appearance in the ARCA Re/Max Series.
Pistone went on to work as a builder of Legends Cars and Super Late Models. His brothers, Nick and Tom, requested for Legends Nation to post the suicide and crisis hotline in their announcement of Chase's death.
