Visakhapatnam MP M. Sribharat has directed officials to expedite the road connectivity works that need to be completed before the commencement of operations at the Bhogapuram International Airport. The MP, along with Kalisetti Appalanaidu, Vizianagaram MP, participated in a comprehensive review meeting held at the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) office, here, on Monday.

District Collectors of Visakhapatnam and Vizianagaram, public representatives, and officials from the Navy, Forest, Revenue departments, National Highways Authority, VMRDA, and other key stakeholders attended the meeting.

Discussions were held on the existing road network incorporated in the VMRDA Master Plan and on the expert recommendations concerning the proposed road connectivity to Bhogapuram Airport.

Mr. Sribharat said that the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport must be planned with a long-term vision to accommodate up to 40 million passengers. He emphasised the importance of having clarity and comprehensive planning based on projected population growth and future demand.

He further stressed that the proposed road infrastructure should ensure seamless connectivity to the airport without disrupting regular traffic flow on the National Highway. The objective, he said, should be to enable time-efficient travel for air passengers while maintaining smooth movement for general road users.
