An 18-year-old college student was run over by a truck on the Puzhal bypass road.
Police identified the victim as Mohammad Ali Imtiaz, 18 of Sharma Nagar, Vyasarpadi who was studying second-year at an engineering college.
Police sources said that the victim left college and was driving towards Tambaram in his two-wheeler to visit his relatives. When he was travelling on the bypass road near the Puzhal toll plaza, a trailer truck coming from behind hit his vehicle. The impact caused him to lose balance and fall onto the road. The front wheel of the truck ran over him.
On receiving information, personnel from the Red Hills Traffic Investigation Wing reached the scene and sent the body to the Government Stanley Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Red Hills Traffic Investigation Wing registered a case and arrested the truck driver Senthilkumar, 46, of Kallakurichi district.
