CNN’s Harry Enten on Tuesday underscored the lack of a clear frontrunner among potential Democratic candidates for president in 2028, declaring that it’s “very unusual” to encounter.
“This is just a downright clown car at this point on the Democratic side,” Enten said.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom leads the pack of potential candidates, with 19% of registered Democrats and those leaning toward the party picking him as their top choice to be the nominee, per a recent Yahoo/YouGov survey.
Former Vice President Kamala Harris trails just behind him at 18%, a figure that Enten described as “weak” considering she was the nominee in 2024.
Former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg follows at 13%, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) notched 12%.
