Need for strict traffic regulations
The traffic concentration on Thoothukudi-Tiruchendur highway is increasing with each passing day, and Abirami Nagar junction near Mullakadu has become a hotspot for skirmishes and accidents.
In addition to the residential spaces, a temple, a higher secondary school and church are located along the eastbound road.
The westbound road is also experiencing heavy gridlock. Despite the presence of speed-breakers, navigating through the junction on two-wheelers has become a nightmare.
It is essential to install traffic signal lights at all four approaches, along with the installation of cameras, to detect violations. Unless strict traffic regulations are enforced, accidents are likely to continue at the junction.
