An 11-year-old girl and her mother died inside a Las Vegas hotel room over the weekend in what police in Nevada are investigating as a possible murder-suicide.
The Clark County Coroner's Office identified the deceased as Addilyn Smith and her mother, Tawnia Hope McGeehan, 34, both of West Jordan, Utah.
Las Vegas Police Department Lt. Robert Price said officers received a call for a welfare check on Feb. 15 for a mother and daughter in town for a cheerleading competition who were staying at the Rio Hotel and Casino.
Officers responded to the hotel and, along with hotel security, "knocked on the door and called into the room" for about 15-20 minutes "without any answer," Price told reporters during a press conference.
