U.S. figure skater Amber Glenn — one of three “Blade Angels” competing for the Stars and Stripes in Milan — was shocked to receive a special message from Madonna, the music icon behind the soundtrack to her short program at this year’s Winter Olympics.Glenn, who rocked a dress inspired by Madonna and who worked with one of her dancers ahead of the Games, is set to skate to the singer’s 1989 hit “Like A Prayer” on Tuesday afternoon. In a clip shared by NBC’s On Her Turf, Glenn reacted to a surprise video clip from Madonna herself, who revealed that she’d seen one of the skater’s performances.“I have to tell, I was blown away by it. You are an incredible skater,” Madonna said in the clip. Glenn covered her mouth in shock as she listened.“I’m shaking,” Glenn said.Team USA's Amber Glenn (pictured) helped bring home team gold for the red, white and blue last week at the Milan Cortina Games.Xue Yuge/Xinhua News Agency via Getty ImagesMadonna went on to emphasize in the clip that Glenn — the first openly queer woman to represent Team USA in women’s singles figure skating — is “so strong, so beautiful” and “so brave,” adding that she can’t imagine that the skater can’t win at the Games.“So I just want to say good luck. Go get that gold,” concluded the pop icon, who described Glenn as a “Baddie on Ice” in an Instagram Stories post last week.“Sorry, I’m in shock, I’m in complete shock. Oh my god! I’m legitimately shaking. Oh my god!” Glenn exclaimed after watching Madonna’s video message. She then addressed the music icon directly in the NBC clip. “My queen, thank you, so much. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. You are beautiful, stunning, amazing, and you are an icon, a legend forever, and thank you for supporting athletes in their artistic ventures, and I hope I can do the song justice,” the skater gushed.Glenn, along with her U.S. teammates Alysa Liu and Isabeau Levito, hope to take women’s singles gold in the short program on Tuesday. The competition is set to start on the ice at 12:45 p.m. ET.Close
