Pascal Wehrlein marks his 100th E-Prix with victory in first race of the weekend in Jeddah
JEDDAH: Pascal Wehrlein celebrated his 100th E-Prix in style on Friday as he secured a victory in Round 4 of the Formula E World Championship, the first of two races in Jeddah this weekend, that moved him to the top of the drivers’ championship.
The Porsche driver combined precise timing of the Pit Boost with strategic use of Attack Mode to hold off Mahindra Racing’s Edoardo Mortara and Jaguar TCS Racing’s Mitch Evans.
Starting third on the grid, Wehrlein delayed activating both his extra 50 kilowatt Attack Mode and the Pit Boost as he executed a masterful strategy that allowed him to pull 8 seconds clear of his rivals in the closing stages.
“It was a super, nicely executed race,” Wehrlein said. “I waited a bit with the Pit Boost but also with the Attack Mode, and I think that was the right strategy.
