Feb. 11 (UPI) -- A Tennessee man scored a $100,000 prize from a Powerball ticket he bought while visiting with family in Maryland during the holidays.
The player told Maryland Lottery officials he was with his family for the holidays in Maryland when the $1.8 billion Powerball jackpot sparked his interest.
"I saw the jackpot and said to my family, 'Let's get a ticket,'" he said.
The man purchased a ticket for the Dec. 24 Powerball drawing from the Dash-In store at on Riva Road in Annapolis.
He said he didn't check the results of the drawing until several days after returning to Tennessee. He scanned the ticket and was confused by the "Go to Lottery" message, so he called his brother to look up the winning numbers for him.
