Hoda Kotb made an unexpected return to NBC’s “Today” Monday as the search for her former colleague Savannah Guthrie’s mother stretched into a ninth day.

“Today” co-anchor Craig Melvin solemnly welcomed Kotb back to the set while asking viewers for their “grace” as he and his colleagues “navigate uncharted territory” amid the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie.

Kotb, who exited the morning show a little over a year ago, said she was honored to be filling in while Savannah Guthrie remains in Arizona with her family.

“We always talk about our show as a family. We are a family,” she said. “I’m part of the family, and I’m happy to be with you because we show up for each other.”
