Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on Sunday (February 8, 2026) refuted any allegations of friction between him and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, or that they did not know the contours of the agreement with the U.S., telling The Hindu in an interview that “people have mixed up two different issues”.
In the interview, and in previous press conferences, Mr. Goyal said that the Ministry of External Affairs would answer questions on whether India would be stopping its Russian oil imports, as U.S. President Donald Trump has claimed.
