Independent Bihar MP Rajesh Ranjan, popularly known as Pappu Yadav, was arrested by Patna Police late Friday (February 6, 2026) from his residence in Patna in connection with a case dating back to 1995, officials said.

High drama unfolded at Mr. Yadav's house in Mandiri locality when a police team arrived to execute a warrant issued by an MP/MLA court in the case registered under section 467 (forgery of documents) of the Indian Penal Code.

Mr. Yadav, who represents the Purnea Lok Sabha constituency, initially refused to accompany the police team, claiming they were carrying a warrant for the attachment of property but not for his arrest.

He was, however, later taken into custody and will be produced before a competent court on Saturday (February 7, 2026).

The police team reached Mr. Yadav’s residence barely an hour after he returned from New Delhi, where he had attended the ongoing Parliament session.
