IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir said on Wednesday that the Israel Defense Forces must take action against settler violence in the West Bank. "Ultranationalist crime harms the army and the country," he said, adding that the security forces had a duty "to act immediately and not stand idly by" and to protect the uninvolved civilian population. It is good that Zamir said these things, but words are no substitute for actions and it is doubtful that his would pass the reality test.
