Gujarat police on Thursday (February 5, 2026) arrested 43 men and detained 38 women for allegedly consuming liquor at a private party held at a villa on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, in violation of the State’s prohibition laws.
The action followed a raid conducted shortly after midnight at Safal Nirvana Greens near Sanand, where a Mumbai-based man had organised a party to mark his brother-in-law’s 25th wedding anniversary, officials said. The gathering was held at a villa owned by one of the organiser’s friends and was attended by close associates, including men and women.
Gujarat enforces a complete ban on the manufacture, sale, and consumption of alcohol.
Ahmedabad Rural Superintendent of Police Om Prakash Jat told The Hindu that 81 persons were found at the venue. “While 43 male attendees were arrested, 38 women were detained and later released after being served notices,” he said.
During the raid, police seized liquor bottles, hookahs, cars, and mobile phones collectively valued at ₹2.3 crore. The seized items included 15 bottles of liquor, 10 hookahs, 22 cars, and 74 mobile phones.
