An avalanche in the Dolomites killed two people Thursday. The avalanche hit them above Solda, in South Tyrol, in the early afternoon. The accident occurred around 1:30 PM in the area of ;;the Madriccio refuge and reportedly involved a group of ski mountaineers. (ANSA)

Rescuers arrived on the scene with Guardia di Finanza helicopters and the Pelikan 2.
One person was reportedly extracted alive.
