National Future, the new far-right party launched on Tuesday by Roberto Vannacci after he announced he was leaving Deputy Premier and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini's League, has the support of 4.2% of the electorate, according to a YouTrend poll for Sky TG24.

The party led by Vannacci, a paratroop general who became a right-wing celebrity after penning a controversial anti-woke bestseller, would get a big chunk of its votes from former supporters of the League (18%) and of Premier Giorgia Meloni's right-wing Brothers of Italy (FdI) party (23%), the poll said.

The poll said that, as a result, FdI will lose 1.1 percentage points of its support, the League 0.9 and Forza Italia, the other main partner in the ruling coalition, 0.2.

National Future said would also get support from many people who were previously undecided or abstained, it said.
