A two-wheeler went up into flames on the Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge in Hyderabad on Tuesday morning, triggering panic among commuters and causing brief traffic congestion on the busy stretch used by office-goers.

Police said alert bystanders helped the rider escape safely after he noticed the fire and moved a few metres away from the vehicle. Within minutes, the motorcycle was completely gutted.

According to Madhapur Inspector D Krishna Mohan, the incident was reported while the rider was travelling on the bridge. Preliminary findings suggest that the fire was triggered by an electrical short circuit in the vehicle’s wiring.

Madhapur police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. No injuries were reported, and officials said no complaint has been received in connection with the incident so far.
