PRATTVILLE − A four-year-old boy was found walking along an Alabama dirt road in frigid conditions Saturday morning, police say.

A passerby saw the boy, dressed in pajamas and socks, walking along a road in the Marbury area of Autauga County on Jan. 31 and called authorities, said Sheriff Mark Harrell. It is believed the child had been outside about half an hour when he was found, Harrell said.

The boy was taken to shelter and is safe, he said.

At the time it was 26 degrees with a wind chill of 16 and snow flurries were falling, information from the National Weather Service reporting station at Grouby Field in Prattville stated.
