Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy and Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy announced to enhance the greenery by 50 per cent in Nellore by 2047.
As part of ‘Swarnandhra@2047’, the Minister and MP, along with MLC Beeda Ravichandra and MLA Inturi Nageswara Rao launched the Miyawaki urban forest project in Kandukur constituency in Prakasam district. As per the Miyawaki concept, a whopping 2,000 saplings were planted in two acres on the same day, which, when grown, will resemble a dense forest in the middle of an urban area
Pointing to the poor air quality and rising pollution levels in New Delhi, Mr. Prabhakar Reddy demanded that 10 saplings be planted for every ten tree felled for development.
Mr. Ramanarayana Reddy wanted more urban forests to come up in the 50-acre site, hoping that the present saplings would resemble a thick forest in three decades time.
