Maharashtra has become the first State in India to launch dedicated Menopause Clinics across government hospitals and urban healthcare centres. Minister of State for Public Health Meghna Bordikar has led the initiative and claimed that the response from women across the state has been “overwhelming”.

Government aims to address the issue of hormonal imbalance, bone disorders, sleep disturbances, cardiovascular risks and mental health concerns in women going through menopause.

The Menopause Clinics provide expert medical consultation, mental health counselling, hormonal, bone and heart health assessments, appropriate treatment, medication and lifestyle guidance. The initiative was launched around Makar Sankranti, January 14, 2026.
