Beloved activist and social media creator Shirley Raines has died, according to her organization Beauty 2 The Streetz.

Known as Ms. Shirley, the Compton native was the founder and CEO of Beauty 2 The Streetz, a nonprofit that provides services to unhoused people in Los Angeles and other cities.

Raines' death was first reported by several outlets, including People and TMZ, which reported she was 58 years old. Beauty 2 The Streetz confirmed the news in an Instagram post on Wednesday, Jan. 28.

"Ms. Shirley dedicated her life to serving others and made an immeasurable impact on homeless communities throughout Los Angeles and Nevada," the statement said.

"Through her tireless advocacy, deep compassion, and unwavering commitment, she used her powerful media platform to amplify the voices of those in need and to bring dignity, resources, and hope to some of the most underserved populations."
