As IIT Delhi celebrated its 68th foundation day, it released its first ‘Alumni Impact Report’, which maps the contributions of around 65,000 alumni.
The institute said in the report that approximately 10,000 IIT Delhi alumni hold leadership positions in the Banking & Finance, Manufacturing, and Engineering industries. More than 1,000 alumni sit in the Boardrooms of large and diverse corporate systems.
The report shows that around 40,000 alumni are settled in India, followed by around 7,000 in the U.S., and other countries. Over 2,500 alumni are founders, co-founders or leaders in start-ups, over 50 are faculty at renowned institutions, and around 270 are serving as IAS officers.
Top sectors for IIT alumni include technology and IT services, banking and finance, and manufacturing and engineering. Secondary sectors include consulting, energy and infrastructure, and professional services.
The institute said in a statement, “The report also highlights the success of the IIT Delhi Endowment Fund, built entirely through the generosity of its alumni. The fund provides the institute with the strategic flexibility to invest in research and infrastructure independently. Currently, the fund has recorded pledges of ₹477 Crore, with ₹338 Crore already realised.
