The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has appealed to the Governor to recommend an independent probe, either by the CBI or by a sitting judge, into the alleged irregularities in the Singareni’s overburden contracts.
A delegation of the party led by its working president K.T. Rama Rao called on the Governor at Lok Bhavan on Tuesday and submitted a detailed representation highlighting the instances of alleged corruption and financial irregularities in the Singareni overburden removal tenders.
The BRS team comprised MPs V. Ravinchandra and D. Damodar Rao, senior leaders and legislators S. Madhusudana Chary, T. Harish Rao, C. Malla Reddy, T. Srinivas Yadav, L. Ramana, Koppula Eshwar and others. They presented documentary evidence related to the alleged misuse of public funds, irregular tendering processes and inflated project costs in mining and solar power projects undertaken by Singareni after Congress assumed power in December 2023.
Speaking to the media after meeting the Governor, Mr. Rama Rao said they had formally brought to the Governor’s notice the alleged “large-scale plunder” in Singareni and the government’s failure to provide credible explanations despite repeated disclosures made by BRS leaders, including former minister and Deputy Floor Leader in the Assembly Mr. Harish Rao.
