Bill O’Reilly turned up the temperature in yelling at a NewsNation host for suggesting that President Donald Trump had backed down on Monday. (Watch the clip below.)
O’Reilly, who was recently hospitalized for internal bleeding, raised his voice at “On Balance” host Leland Vittert in an exchange about Minneapolis.
Following outrage over the second dubious shooting death of a protester by Homeland Security officers, Trump said Monday he was dispatching White House border czar Tom Homan to the city to control ICE officers and Border Patrol agents. Trump also said he had productive phone calls with Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.
Trump had originally sent thousands of federal officers as part of an immigration crackdown, which escalated tensions, perhaps prompting Vittert to ask fellow Fox News alum O’Reilly why the president was “backing down” now.
“He’s not backing down, he’s trying to defuse,” O’Reilly barked. “Why would you say he was backing down? You want a CNN contract?”
