Bill O'Reilly is taking a step back from the news cycle to deal with an undisclosed illness.

The onetime Fox News host, 76, revealed in a statement on his website Jan. 20 that he would be pausing various media endeavors while he underwent treatment. The conservative commentator hosts the podcast "No Spin News," a show born after his exit from Fox over several lawsuits accusing him of sexual misconduct.

"Hey No Spin Nation. Sorry I am dealing with a malady," O'Reilly wrote on his website. "We have great doctors so we'll fight the good fight. Doesn't affect my fingers so will update you on me, news cycle, and anything major."

"Hopefully, back in the saddle shortly," he concluded. USA TODAY has reached out to O'Reilly's reps for further comment.

O'Reilly, who rose to fame in the '90s as a bullish, Republican-friendly reporter on Fox, hosted "The O'Reilly Factor" on the network for over a decade. During his time at the media company, he settled five sexual harassment lawsuits, paying out millions to his accusers.
