Thousands in the United States are without power after a deadly winter storm slammed into the central and eastern regions of the country.

Tennessee is one of the states that has been hit the hardest. As of 9:30 a.m. ET, a reported 231,538 customers were without power, according to USA TODAY's power outage tracker.

In the early morning, wind chills are expected to be below zero degrees across the country, according to the National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee.

A portion of Middle Tennessee, including Nashville, is under an extreme cold warning, according to AccuWeather. Temperatures can drop as low as 10 degrees below zero in the region.

At least 13 deaths across the country have been reported amid the storm, USA TODAY has reported.
