Ryan Wedding, a former Canadian Olympic snowboarder and one of the FBI's ten most wanted fugitives, has been arrested and charged with running a transnational drug trafficking operation, US media report.

The reported arrest ends a years-long search for Wedding, 44, who was wanted on drug and murder charges.

US officials have said they believe Wedding was living in Mexico under the Sinaloa drug cartel's protection.

The FBI is expected to offer more information at a 11:00 EST (16:00 GMT) news conference in California.

Wedding is accused of running a vast drug trafficking operation responsible for importing some 60 metric tons of cocaine a year into Los Angeles, Attorney General Pam Bondi previously said.
