Ryan Wedding, a former Olympic snowboarder wanted by the FBI on murder and money laundering charges in connection to alleged drug trafficking into the United States, has been arrested, federal officials confirmed on Jan. 23.
Wedding was taken into custody in Mexico on Jan. 22, FBI Director Kash Patel announced in post on X, and is being transported to the U.S.
Wedding, 44, had been wanted by the FBI in connection to a "transnational criminal enterprise." U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi has called the Canadian national "one of the most prolific and violent drug trafficking organizers in the world."
"This is the SIXTH Top Ten Most Wanted Fugitive this FBI has captured within a year - fugitives who had been on the run for almost 40 years combined," Patel said on social media.
Authorities are slated to address the case at a news conference on Friday, Jan. 23, at the Ontario International Airport in Southern California, an FBI spokesperson with the Los Angeles office told USA TODAY.
