The “Maha Samprokshanam” of Sri Rajagopalaswamy temple at Mannargudi in Tiruvarur district is scheduled to be performed on January 28.
Yagasalai pujas and homams in connection with the consecration of this ancient temple dedicated to Sri Krishna will commence at the ‘yaga salai’ put up in about 3,500 sq. ft. within the 33-acre temple precincts at the heart of Mannargudi will commence on January 26 morning and culminate on January 28 morning.
While the consecration of ‘raja gopuram’ (main temple tower entrance) and other ‘vimanams’ (except the ‘vimanams’ of the sanctum sanctorums of main deities) will be performed on January 28 between 9.30 a.m. and 10.15 a.m., the ‘samprokshanam’ of Sri Rajagopalaswamy, Goddess Sengamalavalli Thayar and other main deities will be held between 10.15 a.m. and 11 a.m.
The ‘yaga salai’ rituals were to be performed under the supervision of Sri R Rajagopala Deekshithar, Sri L Sundararaja Deekshithar, Sri K Sridhara Deekshithar, Sri R Kannan Deekshithar and Sri S Prasanna Venkatesa Deekshithar.
Elaborate arrangements for the consecration of the temple, renovated at a cost of around ₹15 crore, had been made by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department officials in consultation with the Mannargudi MLA and Minister for Industries T.R.B. Rajaa, sources said.
