The Udupi district administration has organised the Republic Day fruit and flower show from January 26 to 28 at the flower auction centre (farmer service centre), Horticulture Department premises, at Doddanagudde in Udupi.

Deputy Commissioner T. K. Swaroopa told reporters at the flower auction centre that the zilla panchayat and the Horticulture Department have joined hands with the administration in organising the show. District in-charge Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar will inaugurate the show on January 26 at 8 a.m. while Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna will preside over the programme.
Ms. Swaroopa said, as part of the flower exhibition, about 7,000 plants of 26 species of flowers, including petunia, celosia, salvia, chrysanthemum, marigold, zinnia, China aster, balsam, torenia, rose, tecoma, hibiscus, pansy, and impatiens, will be displayed. The main attraction this year will be an exhibition of art work on the life and achievements of Saalumarada Thimmakka.
