DAVOS: Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, signed the founding charter of US President Donald Trump’s “Board of Peace” on Thursday.

The decision to participate reflected the Kingdom’s support for efforts to bring lasting peace to Gaza, he said.

Saudi Arabia was one of eight Arab and Islamic nations that announced on Wednesday they would join the initiative, which aims to stabilize and rebuild the war-ravaged Palestinian territory.

Prince Faisal signed the document during a ceremony at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where Trump launched the charter at an event attended by a number of other founding nations, including Turkiye and Qatar.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry said the signing of the document showed the Kingdom’s “commitment to supporting the peace council as a transitional body to end the Gaza conflict, as adopted by United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803.”
