Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy requested senior Army officials to appoint Special Officers to resolve long-pending issues between the Telangana government and the Armed forces, particularly those relating to defence land allotment and the sanction of Sainik Schools, through sustained deliberations.
The Chief Minister made the request while chairing a Civil-Military Liaison Conference on Thursday (January 15, 2026) attended by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao; Major General Ajay Mishra, General Officer Commanding, Telangana–Andhra Sub Area, and Director General of Police Shivadhar Reddy and other senior officials.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister and Army officials discussed issues concerning defence land required by the State for various development projects, as well as several pending administrative matters between the Telangana Government and the Army.
Mr. Revanth Reddy drew attention to the delay in resolving these matters and stressed the need for a structured mechanism to address them.
Raising the issue of Sainik Schools, the Chief Minister said Telangana had received a “raw deal” over the past 10 years, noting that at least two to four Sainik Schools were sanctioned to other States during the period, while Telangana was left out. He urged the Army authorities to consider sanctioning a Sainik School to the State and also requested that the Southern Command Centre headquarters be shifted to Hyderabad.
