All the recently-introduced electric buses were off the roads on Friday following a strike by the drivers as a mark of protest against the management for not remitting the amount deducted from their salary into their PF account.
After abstaining from work, the drivers staged a protest in front of the garage near Anna Thidal. The workers wanted either the deducted amount to be remitted to their PF account or salary to be paid fully. They raised slogans against the management for not adhering to the rules. In November, the Puducherry Road Transport Corporation (PRTC) had introduced its first fleet of 25 air-conditioned and non-airconditioned electric buses in Puducherry.
