JEDDAH: Official delegations from FC Barcelona and Athletic Club de Bilbao arrived in Jeddah on Monday night ahead of the Spanish Super Cup, which starts on Wednesday at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.

Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Athletic Bilbao will compete in the three-match tournament at Alinma Stadium, with the semifinals taking place on Jan. 7-8 and the final on Sunday, Jan. 11.

Barcelona will begin the defense of the trophy they won last year when they take on Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday night. The Madrid rivals will clash on Thursday.

The Catalan club arrived in Jeddah first, led by club president Joan Laporta and coach Hansi Flick, and with a full-strength squad featuring the likes of Alejandro Balde, Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsí, Ferran Torres, Pedri, Robert Lewandowski, Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Joan Garcia, Marcus Rashford, Fermin Lopez, Marc Casado, Gerard Martín, Frenkie de Jong, Jules Kounde and Eric Garcia.
