“Will the DMK dare to field Thol. Thirumavalavan in a general constituency and ensure his victory?” questioned Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) chief co-ordinator Seeman.
Addressing journalists following a consultative meeting with party executives at Karaikudi here on Sunday, he challenged the DMK to prove its commitment to social justice by fielding a Dalit leader like Mr. Thirumavalavan in a general (unreserved) constituency rather than a reserved one.
Further, he reaffirmed his party’s stance that they would always contest alone and would enter into a coalition. “We will officially announce the names of all NTK candidates for the upcoming elections on February 21,” he added.
Mr. Seeman warned that the large-scale influx of North Indians into Tamil Nadu could eventually lead to political power shifting into the hands of Hindi speakers.
On the issue of alcohol consumption in public hospitals, he took a jab at the government, stating that when the State itself sells liquor, it is no surprise that people consume it everywhere.
