Bheemunipatnam MLA Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that Chillapeta Lake in Tagarapuvalasa will be developed into a pleasant recreational destination on the lines of Hyderabad’s Hussain Sagar. He visited the lake on Saturday (January 03, 2026) along with Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) Commissioner Ketan Garg.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLA said that during an earlier visit to the city, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had suggested developing Chillapeta Lake as a leisure spot for local residents. He pointed out that the lake is getting polluted due to waste being discharged from the a hospital and nearby residential areas.
He said that walking and cycling tracks would be developed to encourage residents to spend their time at the lake in a healthy environment. He added that the GVMC officials have been directed to prepare the proposals for the project within a month.
He further stated that the Tagarapuvalasa bus station would be constructed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model and assured that a road would be provided to ensure hassle-free access to the cremation ground.
GVMC Commissioner Ketan Garg instructed the Town Planning officials of GVMC to resolve the long-pending obstacles related to Master Plan Road in Madhurawada area under the GVMC limits. Mr. Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that the long-standing issues concerning the Master Plan Road in the Madhurawada area must be resolved at the earliest. Emphasising that the Master Plan Road is extremely crucial for the city, the MLA urged the Commissioner to expedite the resolution of these issues.
