The Coimbatore Corporation has revised the charges for transfer of names in property tax assessments, in line with a recent government order issued by the Tamil Nadu government.
Previously, a charge equivalent to 0.1% of the assessed value of the property was levied for effecting name transfer, resulting in variation based on property value. To ensure uniformity in levy, the State government directed all urban local bodies to adopt a standardised fee structure.
As per the revised norms, a charge of ₹500 has been fixed for property tax assessment name transfer in respect of residential properties, while a charge of ₹1,000 has been prescribed for properties assessed under non-residential categories. The proposal was placed before the Corporation council and approved at its meeting held recently.
The Corporation has been instructed to notify the revised charges on its official website and display the details on notice boards at zonal and head offices to facilitate public access to information.
The council also resolved that no charge shall be collected for transfer of names in water charges assessment numbers under any circumstances.
