Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Authorities found a body during a search for a missing Texas woman who went missing on Dec. 24.

Camila Mendoza Olmos, 19, disappeared soon after she left her San Antonio, Texas, home on Christmas Eve.

The body, which was found in a field with a gun, has not yet been identified, and an official cause of death has not been reported. But Sheriff Javier Salazar said the body was wearing "very similar" clothing to what they believe Mendoza Olmos was wearing when she was last seen.

"We hope that we can try to expedite that process to be able to get the community answers that everybody's been waiting for," Salazar said.

Near the body was a gun, and the person may have died from self-harm, Salazar said. It was found at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday in a field about 100 yards from Mendoza Olmos' home, which authorities said they had already searched.
